While Dung Eater's spirit is trapped in the Roundtable hold his body is trapped in the leyndell sewers. Both halves will remain trapped until one of them finds a way to escape or die and thereby reunite them. Spirit DE is lucid, aware, and present, at least to the degree that those words can be applied to Dung Eater.
Dung Eater's body, however, seems to be in a trance or sleepwalking, a muscle memory of consciousness navigating a dreamworld.
When the spirit leaves the body consciousness goes with it. When we, the PC, get summoned or invade our physical body probably remains where it was, still impatiently rolling in circles as though still waiting for a connection.
When we disturb Rennala's "rich slumber" Ranni intervenes, transporting us to the liminal space Rennalas spirit inhabits. We can tell its rennala's spirit because when she first appears in the cutscene its litrally rennala as a spirit, and we watch it reunite with her body just before the second phase begins.
Rennala's mind, her consciousness, was not in her body in the library. Rennala is not broken, not despairing, not a prisoner, neither traumatized nor tragic.
She just wants the Golden Order to believe she is. "The prisoner is in her cell, still, pining over radagon, still, mindless with despair, still, all these decades later. Nothing to worry about here."
Rennala is a Queen. Queens play to win.

Its not even subtle, the second rennalas spirit form shows up she start spam casting comets while chain-summoning night & flame allies. Rennala was at 100% the entire time and anyone who thinks otherwise is bad at thinking, has no idea what GRRM does for a living, has the political acumen of a wet rock and, not to be over-judgmental, is probably pretty sexist. Its Mytha all over again.
Rennala conquered liurnia in a day and fought off Marika with 20 knights. You think getting dumped is going to stop her? Normal people recover from getting dumped. You think radagons betrayal undid her? All that did was expose the traitors in her own ranks, and caria has been ahem doggedly hunting them down ever since.
